Dr. Tony Lambert - Senior Pastor

Tony came to be Riverside’s Senior Pastor in March of 2013. Since 1978 Tony has served as a pastor in three regions of the country in churches ranging from 200 to 8000+ members. This has given him a great appreciation for a diversity of ministry styles and taught him flexibility, as each church is unique. The one constant has been the Bible as his final authority.

Tony grew up in Mississippi and attended The University of Southern MS, William Carey University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has earned several degrees including a Doctorate from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Married to his best friend since 1981, Tony and Sherry have three children Lauren, Tori and Anthony. Tori, married to Josh, gave the family their first grandchild, Enslee in 2012.

Other than hanging out with Enslee, Pastor Tony enjoys a variety of sports, motorcycle riding and trying to keep up with his wife who is a fitness instructor

Jason Tipton - Interim Executive Pastor

Jason came to Riverside in January of 2011 and currently serves as Riverside’s Interim Executive Pastor. A native of Mississippi, Jason came to Colorado from Union University in Jackson, TN where he served in the Office of University Relations. Jason loves the development of relationships within communities and loves to see people reintroduced to Christ. He is married to Mindy and they have one child, Jonathan. You can find them enjoying the outdoors of Colorado whenever they can!

Michael Evans - Worship Pastor

Michael Evans has served as the Worship Pastor at Riverside Baptist Church since January 2011.

As a teenager, Michael and his family traveled as full-time Christian music artists and he has been in worship ministry ever since. He received his music education at Samford University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, both in Birmingham, Alabama.

Michael enjoys outdoor activities in the beautiful state of Colorado and is passionate about helping people connect with God through musical worship.

He and his wife Nicole were married in February 2007 in Alabama.

Bill Winter -Pastor of Care and Crisis Ministries

Bill began ministry in 1961, as a pulpit supply preacher for 6 weeks, in a small church in the small Kansas town of Udall. He was born in Arkansas City, Kansas in 1942and grew up on a farm in that area.

He received an Associate’s Degree in electronics technology from RCA Institutes of New York City and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ashland University, Ashland Ohio. He received his Master of Divinity Degree from Ashland Theological Seminary. With the exception of a thesis, Bill completed all of the requirements toward a Master of Theology degree at Fuller Theological Seminary School of World Mission in Pasadena, Calif.
As Pastor of Care and Crisis Ministries Bill focuses on people in crisis situations. He also does jail and prison ministry. He is a law enforcement chaplain and does volunteer work in the area of disaster relief.

Bill and his wife, Sharon, have a son and daughter and four grandchildren.

Don Metzler - Pastor to the Seniors

Don Metzler is the Pastor to Senior Adults at Riverside Baptist Church. He considers it a great blessing that he has had the privilege of ministering to Riverside’s senior adults for the past sixteen years.

Don worked in a variety of management levels of retail sales as well as having his own business.  In addition, he has been a Market Developing Manager and sold mobile tool businesses in a number of states.

He and his wife Dorothy have had the joy of being married for 52 years. They have three children, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lee Lovegren - Associate Leadership Pastor

Lee began serving as an Associate Leadership Pastor at Riverside in June 2006. He has served as Secretary-Treasurer on Riverside’s Board of Trustees and has taught the Senior Adult Fellowship Bible Class for the past eight years.

Lee was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and received his Bachelor of Science degree in bio-medical engineering from Louisiana Tech University in 1977. He has completed additional courses in accounting, management, Christian education, economics and leadership through the
US Navy and United Airlines.

Lee’s goal is to follow the Lord’s leading and to glorify Him in all that he does (John 15:1-5, 16-17) and to go into ministry after he retires from his current career.

Lee and his wife, Hope, have been married for 35 years and have two children, Jason (30) and Melissa (25).

Jerald Combs – Interim Student Pastor

Jerald came to Riverside Baptist in July of 2010 and currently serves as our Interim Student Pastor.  He has been in the ministry for over 20 years in several different positions from California to Colorado; serving as Music Pastor, Children’s Music Pastor, Minister of Church Administration and has taught several Adult Sunday School Classes.  His Student Ministry goals are to see students break the spiritual and cultural barrier of apathy and mediocrity and live lives in obedience with joy, so that their friends and family will see and acknowledge Christ in them.
 
Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Jerald loves Alabama SEC College Football.  He has served honorably for seven years in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electronic Warfare Operator, where he also earned his Associates of Science Degree in Communications.  Jerald was Ordained and Licensed to the Gospel Ministry in 2003 and is passionate about opportunities to minister where he can be used to further God’s Kingdom.
 
Married to his wife Jennifer for 21 years, they have five children, Joseph (20), Justin (19), Jennaveve (18), Jarod (11), Jacob (10) and one grandchild, Shia Noel (1).  They all enjoy live theater, movies, board games, laughter and hanging out with family and friends.

Karen Bransgrove - Children's Minister

Karen began her children’s ministry work at Riverside in October of 2000. Before that, she served on staff at Coulter Road Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas. Topeka, Kansas was home to Karen, where she also completed her Bachelor of Education at Washburn University. Since that time, she has completed continuing education courses in preschool development as well as some educational leadership courses at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. Of her ministry focus and philosophy Karen states, “I believe children are a gift from God. My desire is to work in partnership with parents to help lay the spiritual foundation for a child to come to know Jesus Christ in a personal and life-changing relationship and then to disciple them in their journey with God.” Karen has two sons, Austin who works and resides in New York City and Chris who is a student at UNC in Greeley, Colorado.

Denis Flierl - Director of Community Ministries

Denis Flierl has been a full time staff member at Riverside Baptist Church since September 2009.
He grew up in Englewood and is a third generation native of Colorado. His family members were original settlers in Colorado in the late 1800s.
Ministry focus for Denis is outreach to the community through the Riverside Pregnancy Center, Jefferson Park neighborhood and Overlook apartments. His ministry philosophy is empowering people to intentionally pursue God’s purposes in the world and to make the greatest possible impact for Christ on our generation.

Denis has been married to his wife, Jeanie for 33 years and they have three married daughters and six grandchildren.

Jaime Lopez - Pastor for Espanol

Jaime Lopez and his family began working with the Riverside “ESPAÑOL” congregation during the spring of 2006. Prior to coming to Riverside Baptist Church, Jaime had been working and serving for 7 years as a music director for IGLESIA BAUTISTA NUEVA ESPERANZA in Brighton, Colorado.

He attended Miami Baptist Institute and finished his pastoral and missionary studies in 1988. Jaime says that the church focus for Riverside En Espanol is simple “Make disciples of Jesus Christ.”

Jaime has been married for almost 20 years to his wonderful wife, Ruth and God has blessed them with a daughter Christy (12) and a son Marcos(10).

Joshua Van Hal - Director of Communications

Joshua has served as the Director of Communications at Riverside Baptist Church since May 2008.

He received his BFA from Ball State University in Muncie, IN with a major in graphic design. Before moving to Colorado, he was the Art Director for an advertising agency in Indiana.

Joshua loves art and connecting the people of Denver to God through art.

He and his wife Laurie were married in March of 2005 in Indiana, where they both grew up.

Our Trustee Team serves Riverside by assisting in the management of areas related to facilities and finance. Our Trustees consist of: John Cotten, Doug Hall, Doug Jay, Erich Kirsch, Lee Lovegren, Monty Overstreet, Jason Tipton, Ronnie Wimberley, Arne Warpness

Regional Deacon Ministry

Very simply, the regional deacon ministry is a practical means to a complicated opportunity. Because our membership is not centralized, we must equip servants to go and meet the needs where the needs are located.
